STEM/Cyber/IT Interest Marks a New Phase in the Company’s Unique Capability to Identify and Recruit Adults with Intent to Enroll in Education and Training Programs

[Los Angeles, CA]: For the first time since the company was founded in 2019, CollegeAPP has released person-level predictive models for interest at the program level, a major step in the evolution of target marketing in higher education. Using CollegeAPP’s proprietary techniques to identify and recruit adult students into education and training programs, more than 200 current CollegeAPP partners will now gain access to the first-ever program-level predictive models, giving them a distinct advantage when recruiting adult prospects for enrollment in competitive programs.

“When we started, it was the single most asked question from higher education marketers. ‘Can you tell us if a person is interested in specific programs?’, said Jack MacKenzie, founder and CEO of CollegeAPP. “Many people reading this today will remember asking it. We said all along that we didn’t have enough data to predict program-level interest responsibly and accurately, but that we were working on it. Four years and 250,000 surveys later, we have enough data. It’s a breakthrough.”

The newly released models predict interest in STEM/Cyber/IT programs at all levels of post-secondary education from certificate and training programs to advanced professional and graduate degrees. Colleges, education providers and workforce development efforts aimed at recruiting students and workers in the critically important STEM/Cyber/IT category can now use the CollegeAPP data in multiple marketing channels including digital and social media, streaming video and audio, direct mail and other techniques used to raise awareness of and enrollment in education and training offerings.

Sean Godlewski

CollegeAPP co-founder and Executive Vice President Sean Godlewski pointed out the importance of STEM related education for in-demand categories such as manufacturing, technical research and development, aerospace, and national security.  “We are ready to assist higher education and the skilled labor market to use our data to bridge the gap between demand for skilled labor and the demand for education and training. Program level modeling is an important step to solving that dilemma efficiently.”

The new STEM/Cyber/IT models will join an already robust collection of predictive models that CollegeAPP has produced.  In addition to intent to enroll predictive models, CollegeAPP has modeled institutional preference, interest in hybrid and all online education and training offerings and the probability any adult has intent to seek a new job in the next twelve months.  It’s all designed to make recruiting adults into programs more efficient and successful.

Michiel Besseling

“We take creating and publishing new models very seriously,” said CollegeAPP Chief Data Scientist Michiel Besseling.  “Anyone in higher education marketing can say they make predictions.  To do it responsibly, you have to have the right data and enough of it to make accurate predictions.  We’ve been patient with our proprietary process of surveying adults to provide our partners intent and interest data in near real time.  We are predicting interest based on what adults are telling us today, not on what other adults did three to five years ago.”

In the announcement, CollegeAPP hinted that additional program level models will be released in the coming weeks.  MacKenzie said, “We are 100% focused on everything we can do to help colleges enter the first enrollment cycle after the demographic cliff with the data needed to efficiently tap into the adult market.  We know there is unmet demand for education and increasingly we know which programs they are likely to favor.  That’s a powerful combination.”
