Company’s “continuous innovation” commitment pays off with increased efficiency and adult student recruitment success
[La Canada Flintridge, CA]: CollegeAPP, the leading predictive analytics-based marketing services company in higher education, has launched an unprecedented series of predictive models designed to give partner colleges and training providers a major competitive advantage in combating the headwinds and demographic changes facing higher education. After five years of continuous and proprietary surveys of potential adult learners, CollegeAPP has created nine program and pathway interest predictive models ranging from skilled trades training to education, health care, cyber/IT and public service/law.
“This is the arrival of a new frontier,” said CollegeAPP founder and CEO, Jack MacKenzie. “As the higher ed marketing establishment leans into describing the challenges of the so-called enrollment cliff, CollegeAPP charted a course in 2019 to prescribe solutions. This robust package of focused program and pathway predictive models is the tangible outcome of that vision, commitment and patience.”
The company shared the new data with its 300-plus enrollment and marketing partners on March 24. “The response has been overwhelming,” says Kayce O’Brien, Vice President of Partner Experience at CollegeAPP. “We are working with our partners on a 1:1 basis to ensure they have the background and insight to deploy these models in all their campaigns ASAP.”

Vice President, Analytics
The publication of the models comes after more than five years of continuous surveying of the US adult population and data science and machine learning research and development. “Predictive models are best when predicated on primary, current data centered on person-level intent, preference and interest,” noted CollegeAPP Chief Data Scientist Michiel Besseling. “Be wary if your marketing partner wants to borrow your data to create audiences for outreach. They would merely be describing what you already know – who’s in the seat now. Our north star lies in who intends to enroll in the near future and we’ve been true to that mission.”
CollegeAPP launched the first ever program-level models in early 2024. “As soon as our partners started using the program interest models to select which adults would receive messages in recruiting campaigns, we noted a significant increase in engagement rates and conversions,” said co-founder and current Executive Vice President Sean Godlewski.
“We knew early on that we had enabled a dramatic step in the evolution of higher education marketing. Predicting program interest opens up a world of opportunities for institutions ranging from community colleges to graduate and professional programs to precisely target prospective adult students for programs and pathways.”
